Maiori, December 6, 2024 - In the heart of Maiori, a small chapel located on Via Casale dei Cicerali becomes the focal point of devotion and celebration as the community gathers to honor San Nicola, Bishop of Myra. This annual event is a cherished tradition, blending moments of solemn prayer with joyful festivity.
The day's program began with a morning Mass at 9:30 AM, setting a spiritual tone for the occasion. In the evening, the faithful came together for the Rosary at 5:00 PM, followed by another Mass at 5:30 PM. At 6:30 PM, a solemn procession, featuring the porters of San Nicola from the Convent of Minori, made its way along a section of Corso Reginna, creating a moving display of faith and community spirit.
Adding a festive note to the celebrations, the evening included a "Zeppolata", a tasting of traditional zeppole prepared by students of Maiori's "P. Comite" Hospitality Institute. This sweet tradition, which heralds the Christmas season, delighted attendees and emphasized the importance of culinary heritage.
The festivities concluded with a dazzling fireworks display by Maiori's "Pirotecnica Guadagno" lighting up the night sky and leaving an indelible mark on all participants.
Organized by the parish and the chapel's devoted supporters, the Feast of San Nicola is a testament to the enduring faith and unity of Maiori's community. This yearly event invites visitors to experience the Amalfi Coast's unique blend of spirituality and cultural richness.
